Radar is Spotify’s global, quarterly, owned performance series that champions emerging talent in music, songwriting, and podcasting. The look, updated in 2024, includes a consistent set structure (three walls, window, door, pendant lamp) that gets re-skinned to reflect the style, aesthetic, and wishes of each performer. The original, repeatable approach was developed by the great minds at Grand Crew, who tapped me to art direct for The Marías’ Radar performance.
In this edition of RADAR, we crafted ‘Cold Solitude’ - designed to be a paradoxical experience of eerie tranquility. An almost icy-cool atmosphere, illuminated by white light that comes from the doorway and window, tinged with an unsettling aura.
As art director, I worked alongside Grand Crew to interpret the brief created by Spotify. I developed set and wardrobe directions, worked with a production designer, photographer, and the GC creative director to meet the needs of the project.
