Can't Tell

A feature length documentary about Bryan Ruby, a professional baseball player and country musician struggling to come out in two of the most homophobic industries in America.

I was again blessed with amazingly supportive producers who let me run with all the footage to find the story. The hardest thing about doing that was tying all of Bryan's worlds together without making it feel disjointed. For example: most stories would have its protagonist be either just a baseball player or just a country musician. But Bryan is very much both an athlete and an artist.

The solution I came to was to emotionally articulate how they play into his every day life. How he hides in baseball but can covertly express himself in music. Easier said than done.

The video attached to this is only the pitch trailer I was asked to make for this project as it is still in the tail end of post-production.
