Policy Writing for Facebook & Instagram

I rewrote the Branded Content Policies for Facebook and Instagram (these policies dictate how influencers can share sponsored content on their platforms).

I came to this project when sponsored content was gaining massive traction on both platforms. The policies were long, tough to navigate, and full of legalese.

By partnering with the company’s legal team I was able to remove unnecessary legal phrasing, shortening the policies (without losing substance) and making them waaaay more approachable. The updated policies use clear, concise sentences and an intuitive do / don’t structure that’s easy for readers to navigate.

By working concurrently with the legal and product teams from both Instagram and Facebook, I was able to craft a single-set of simple policies that apply to both platforms.
