Student VR Film Festival

As the Director of the Creative Lab at the communications agency, Drury Design, for three years, my role was to research emerging trends and technology and develop progressive event marketing concepts for our clients. A big part of my role was also to help the agency update its own identity and showcase its ability to identify with younger audiences. As an example of this, I conceptualized and produced the first ever student VR film competition. I organized educational programs for students to learn about VR and two events to showcase the finalist films at my alma maters, RISD and NYU. I enlisted sponsors such as Samsung to donate the first VR equipment to these schools. In addition to the strategic goal of aligning Drury with new tech and a young audience, I also was passionate about giving students the opportunity to use their fresh perspective to show how VR can be utilized as a powerful artistic medium. The initiative resulted in many amazing films by students working in VR for the first time, introduced hundreds of people to the technology through the events, and inspired the start of VR curricula at NYU the following semester.
